I‘ve wanted to change our house numbers for a while. I came across this wooden board and got to thinking I’d use that and put my current house numbers onto it making them more visible. It took me a while to pick out the colours; it was going to either be 2 shades of orange or green.
I showed up to the paint store 5 minutes before they closed so I picked my 2 colours in a hurry. That was a mistake. Once I got home and put the first coat on I realized it was not a good choice. To be honest I actually realized this as soon as the paint lady put them in the paint shaker…but not much I could do at that point.
Luckily it’s not like I bought 2 quarts or anything, just those little baby sampler sizes (which are perfect for these mini-projects). So the next day I bought 2 new shades…then Rob found out. So to make my “oh don’t worry, we’ll use it all up….” statement not completely fall through I am now thinking of all sorts of green-related-projects. And not necessarily the-save-the-trees-green-project. More like save-rob’s-sanity-green-project.
I’ve been wanting to do this mini-herb garden for a while; so what better time than now to do so….while making it 4 shades of green! The final step will be mounting the little pots to the fence in 2 rows. But that will be another day…when I figure out the best way to mount them.
So I’ve planted some Oregano, Basil, Sage, Cilantro, Garlic Chives and some Parsley. I’m especially excited about the Cilantro because I really, really love it but hate how the grocery store only sells by the truckload and I never get through it all.
Another project I’ve been wanting to do is taking old spoons, hammering them down, punching them with letters and using them for labels in the garden. I managed to get enough energy and try it out. I like the outcome…but don’t love it. But I do love the potential. I just didn’t take enough time, but it will do the trick. An added bonus is when the sun hits off the spoons it acts as a deterrent for birds and stuff (do they even like herbs? Not sure. But I read that about the whole light reflecting thing.) The small image is hard to see how I punched the names in, so just click on to make it big 🙂
